It wouldn’t be a healthy Friday without Cinco Bala. This week's top 5 lessons, hacks and quotes I’ve been pondering, applying and battling.
For those of you who are new, this is a concept I took from Tim Ferriss. (This is just focused on MLM and online marketing) If you don’t subscribe to his newsletter. You should do it.
Lesson in Network Marketing: Understand Your Comp Plan - There are five primary types of compensation plan. Nearly every single plan falls into one of these categories and it’s up to us as independent distributors to understand the differences and make the conscious choice as to which one we should be apart of.
-Stright direct sales
-Matrx
-Uni-lvel (This includes “unlimited” & “breakaway” plans.)
-Binary-Multi-line
Most of us got into our first company out of chance. There was no evaluation against other companies or even opportunities. And in most cases, people will join additional companies without really knowing how to market the opportunity and products or even how they get paid.
None of us would take a job without understanding the pay structure…
So, in order to shed some light on this subject, listen to the podcast episode from MLM Rebels where I break down those primary types of comp plans and how they compare.
And don’t worry, It’s a truly unbiased approach.
Lesson in Online Marketing: Copy > All - I constantly find out how much a solid story and good copy can cover nearly every other mistake.
We live in a super fun world of whiz bang gadgetry with our sales funnels. And it’s ADDICTING.
I stare at the ceiling all the time thinking of new offers and funnels but you know what works the BEST?
A carefully crafted message and offer.
I still have funnels running YEARS after I built them that still bring in money today. Why? Because I was meticulous with the copy.
Like vacuuming with tweezers meticulous.
The copy I threw together in other funnels where I wasn’t as careful? Sure they pulled sales, but it wasn’t long term. They died within months.
Speed is VERY important when launching a funnel. Don’t mistake this lesson for being ridiculous and waiting for 3 months to launch a funnel. (Quick reminder - If you don’t have traffic, no one is going to see it anyway 😉 - So might as well get it out there.)
But if you’re going to focus heavily on ONE skill…
Focus on copywriting.
Business Fact: Lottery Winners Go Broke - Did you know that 3 out of 4 lottery winners go bankrupt? Worse off than they were before.
“Bu Bu butttt more money will fix things.”
Nope.
More money will amplify you. Your strengths AND weaknesses.
So if you sucked at making AND keeping money. You’ll suck worse. Your fall will be 100x more painful losing $300MM than it will losing a few hundred bucks.
PLUS it’s nearly impossible to win the lottery.
What are your chances? Well…
-You are 5-45 times more likely to die from a lightning strike…
-You are 18-120 more likely to die from flesh eating bacteria…
-You are 180-1200 times more likely to die from a snake bite or bee sting…
-You are 30,000 - 200,000% more likely to die in a LEGAL execution
And my personal favorite…
According to space.com you’re 450,000 to 3 MILLION times more likely to die in an asteroid collision in 2029…
(Thanks to Dan Lok for the stats!)
What’s the point?
Getting lucky is not only HIGHLY unlikely, it’s a path to financial ruin.
If you don’t personally develop the skills to build a big team, not only will you have zero respect from your team (and no influence) but you’ll probably set off a self destruct sequence in your life.
What’s the fix?
Come to terms that you have to OWN the skills PERSONALLY to grow your business. No one else can implant them in your head. You have to hunt them down and take them.
But if you do, you can join the ranks of the world’s elite, make your money, keep your money and most importantly…
Have credibility.
So you can INFLUENCE people to live a better, more prosperous life.
Quote I love: “It’s quite impossible to unite happiness with a yearning for what we don’t have.”
Which comes from...
Book I’m Reading: The Daily Stoic - Stoicism is not what it sounds like. It’s not some stone faced bald guy, immovable in emotion. Stoicism is not a religion or form of worship.
It’s a mental operating system.
I’ve found it incredibly useful to “see” my emotions as the arise and select them before they take hold of me. I’m Christian and I believe God designed us to have full control of our minds. I can see worry or negativity as it arises and decide to accept it or not. I’m not perfect at it but I’m learning.
Regardless of your faith background, this is one of the best “mental” gameplans I’ve used.
Talk soon,
Zach
Thanks for your blog, nice to read. Do not stop.
