What needs to happen before you start shooting video
Create Your Development Checklist:
SESSION NOTES:
1. Write your script - keep in mind the profiling questions you answered in previous lessons in regards to your target audience. [Remember: the script is the lifeblood of the video]. Include any CTA (call to actions) you want to present.
Tip: Start your video with a “in medias res”, which means “into the middle of things.” Starting a story in the middle of things kicks the viewer into a whirlwind of excitement that will keep them engaged long enough to hear your 'why' in the video.
The 'why' of your video is the reason why your audience will benefit from what you are offering. (AKA, the most important part.) It is also a problem that you can resolve for them.
Tip: If you are the actor in the video be transparent & authentic. Be YOU! [Remember: You are attracting people to YOUR brand!].
2. Divide the script into your deliverable increments. How much depth does your script/content have? Will it be delivered over 5 days, 14 days, 30 days? Map it out.
3. Create a Storyboard if using animation or changing scenery, OR create slides if you're doing a screen share style.
4. Decide where you will shoot the video, what you will have for a background and if you will have people in it.
Tip: Use a captivating or color dominant background
5. Pick what equipment you will use; ie. Computer camera, Phone camera, Video camera, etc. Do you need a selfie stick or phone stand, etc for recording?
