It wouldn’t be a healthy Friday without Cinco Bala. This week's top 5 lessons, hacks and quotes I’ve been pondering, applying and battling.

For those of you who are new, this is a concept I took from Tim Ferriss. (This is just focused on MLM and online marketing) If you don’t subscribe to his newsletter. You should do it.

General Business Lesson: In a multitude of counselors there is wisdom.

So says the good book…

Sometimes those counselors come from interesting places.

Deryck Whibley screamed “I don’t wanna waste my time, become another casualty of society! I’ll never fall in line, become another victim of your conformity…”

While Deryck of Sum 41 probably shouldn’t be giving life advice, punk bands strike a chord every now and then.

In case you’ve missed the past 20 years, the world is speeding up. And speeding up fast. Moore’s law is compounding faster than we can even track.

What does that mean?

The education system that was born in the industrial revolution is dead and gone. (Same one used in schools and colleges today.)

Nearly everything you and I learn in schools today will be completely irrelevant in 2040. Dead and gone are the days where you could learn a skill, get a job and stay in that function for 40 years.

People who don’t reinvent themselves today are getting steamrolled by those who are.

And it’ll be even worse in twenty years…

So what can you do?

Realize that society is teaching you how to be dependent on the (now irrelevant) system and broke.

The more you and I are dependent on debt, government and big corporations the LESS AND LESS freedom we’ll have.

Society does not care how smart you are. Society cares about your contribution.

In the words of Agent K from Men in Black. “People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals. The person is smart, they can handle it.” (I don’t think people are animals.)

Follow the masses and do the opposite.

Don’t be a part of the “people.” Be a person. Be you.

People as a whole are running themselves into a lifetime of desperation. College tuition, lack of jobs available in chosen fields, underemployment etc. The writing is on the walls.

If you really want a wake up call, listen to my Entrepreneur Discovered podcast episode with Moe Abbas from a few years ago...

Thankfully you have an option. You have a way out.

It’s your business. And even if people are making fun of you, telling you you’re wasting your time or not believing…

DON’T WORRY ABOUT THEM.

They’ll be working for their neighbors kids in 25 years,

...and you’ll be free.

You’ll have the habit of reinventing yourself down pat. You won’t be left behind. You’ll be leading the pack.

Don’ become a casualty of society.

Lessons in Online Marketing: Test with images, then video in Facebook ads - Lots of people are saying “video only” in your ads. There’s some truth to this, video DOES get more reach…

But it’s also time intensive to make a good video.

So we test ALL of our new messaging with image based ads. Once we have a good message that is converting, we try to beat it with a video ad.

Even then, sometimes our image ads beat out the video. Remember, there’s no ABOVE ALL doctrine. Everything is in flux.

Lesson in Advertising: Don’t die with the world - Before radio was dominant, newspapers reigned supreme…

Then TV came in and ruined the game. We could now SEE people from the other side of the world inside this magic box. Insane.

Once all the ad men got settled into the TV and magazine game, the internet comes and absolutely crushes the media networks.

Google was the dominant leader for years. Then they got “smart” and slapped their advertisers multiple times with algorithm changes. And thousands of entrepreneur’s businesses vaporized overnight.

By 2010 Facebook was just ramping up their revenue engine…

Their ad platform.

The most powerful targeting machine in existence.

Goodbye Google.

What’s the lesson?

Facebook DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. Neither does Google, YouTube, Twitter or some random blog.

That’s why you cannot put all your eggs in one basket and you must learn a TIMELESS skill that can be applied to ANY platform that comes along. (Rather than just what’s “hot” now)

That’s exactly why we teach copywriting and marketing strategy in Rebels. So that if Facebook continues to “slap” it’s advertisers like Google did. It won’t matter.

Now you also need a “hot skill.” For the next 2-3 years, I believe it’ll be Facebook. So learn that too [what we teach] - because this is the most effective avenue to plug your “timeless” skill into.

Timeless skill + “Hot” skill = Perpetual freedom

Quote I love: “If a plan doesn’t work, change the plan. But never the goal.”

Lesson in MLM: Attraction is a REACTION, not a choice - People join your team because they believe their life will be better with you in it. Period, case closed. They don’t join you because you have a sweet “new opportunity.”

They don’t care about your products. Your service or your upline… initially…

At first they care about ONE thing. Do THEY believe that their life will be better with YOU in it?

How do you systematically get them there?

1. You’re a good human being. You know if you are.

2. The system you recruited them with WORKS AND IS ATTRACTIVE.

What’s not attractive?

Hotel meetings. Cold calling. Cold stalking on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.

Basically ANYTHING without leverage. If your people have to physically doing stuff to present your opportunity,

...your system is broken…

The system must MINIMALLY complete ALL of the prospecting for you without your direct involvement.

(Better yet if the enrollments are automatic too)

Otherwise, you’re not offering freedom. You’re offering an inefficient way to distribute products.

How do you fix this? Either make a system that works or join a team that has one.

You can read the Blueprint to learn how to build your own or join ours if you haven’t yet.
