After you learn, internalize and act on this immovable lesson, you can begin applying additional tactics to “get people to work” in your team.

 

But if you remember NOTHING else about fancy ninjutsu MLM moves, just remember this.

 

Lesson in Online Marketing: Traffic Secrets - I’m reading Russel’s new book by that title and I’m proud to say that we’ve applied and teach his ‘secrets’ that he describes, in Rebels.

 

To summarize some of the book’s early points, it’s to say that the “tactics” of traffic change so frequently that it’s pointless to teach them specifically. It’s better to understand the bigger picture and then be adaptable in your tactics.

 

Rebels earliest pillar was to teach how to acquire reps at scale, profitably with advertising.

 

There will ALWAYS be a platform with eyeballs that will take your money to show an ad to. So you never have to worry about ‘getting shut down’ if you understand how to make a compelling offer to the right audience with advertising. Because there are nearly infinite “platforms” that have congregations of your audience. All you need to know is how to put a hook into that congregation and pull out buyers profitably.

 

If you do that, you can forget the ‘newest’ thing.

 

I always laugh when people tell me about the “new thing that will beat all things”.

 

Most recently it was messenger bots. Everyone was so hot on them. I had Rebels clients telling me we HAD to set up bots for them.

 

We had “big time” MLM coaches talking about messenger bots and how they would change everything (they didn’t) and why if you didn’t have one, you’d be left in the dust.

 

Well, we had built ours 2 years prior and had already reaped rewards from it. (Remember, if you’re riding the wave, the early adopters are already looking for the next one).

 

So while many clients cried about their messenger bots, we kindly let them know that they could build one if they wanted but we wouldn’t be building it for them. Why?

 

Because messenger bots are an add-on to a platform, not a platform itself. If Facebook stopped liking messenger bots, they could change the rules and screw everyone. (and they did 3 months later)

 

Bots are back up and running but you can bet your britches that no one at Rebels will be putting much effort into messenger bots unless we’re running ads into people’s messenger. (big difference)

 

So, don’t chase tactics. They change too fast. Change principles.

An Admittance: Financial Education - The education system pisses me off. A lot. If my mom and dad didn’t go to bat for me in high school, I may not have graduated. I can still remember my algebra tutor’s face when I asked, “When am I going to use this in the real world?”

 

His response?

 

“Just do it. It expands your mind”.

 

Genius.

 

I barely made it through high school. In trade school though, I graduated top of my class and earned the “Student of the Program” (like valedictorian) award for the most grueling electronics program that was offered across the nation at the time. The difference? Trade school was actually preparing me for a vocation.

 

What’s sad though is neither high school or trade school taught me about finance. If I had followed my first dream and opened a race car shop, the only financial intelligence I would have had was to stay out of debt. That’s it.

 

My disdain for the typical education system runs deep. I could probably write for years on it but at its most basic level, the fact that we don’t teach students how to operate in a society that is governed by money is beyond my comprehension. And the confusion runs so deep that it leads me to no other conclusion that is intentional. Not by ‘regular’ people but by those that literally put the education system in place and career politicians.

 

...In case you didn’t know, there is great profit in keeping the ‘normal’ people poor...

 

I have gone back and forth if it is “right” to be passionate about finances and financial education. I still don’t know the answer. But I do know that I am passionate about it. And I do know that God’s people are “destroyed from a lack of knowledge”.

 

While I don’t think we should be dependent on money but rather on God, we should seek to understand how our world actually works and use it to our advantage, rather than being taken advantage of.

 

So, as I lean into this “passion” of sharing some of my financial learnings and experience, I hope that I continue to do what God wants me to do and if he changes my course, then so be it.
